discoveringislam.org — Discovering Islam The End Times: Based on Numerical Analysis of the Quran, Hadith, Arabic Words, and Historical Events. Imam Mahdi in 2014 Jesus Christ (p) in 2022 Currently, the book is 100 % FREE www.EndTimes2014.com End of Time Prophecies, Apocalypse & Eschatology   In this section of our site, we discuss the End of Time (End Times or End of Days) , leading to End of the World (Doomsday, Last Day), followed by the Day of Resurrection (Day of Judgement).  The End of Time is presented primarily from an Islamic perspective, but we also present some of the beliefs and Biblical prophecies of the Jews and the Christians regarding the End of Time, for the sake of comparison and to broaden the horizons of Muslims and our readers in general.   1.  When will the End of Time start ? Based on our numerical analysis of the Quran and Hadith, the official beginning of the End of Time and the coming of the Imam Mahdi will most likely be in 2014 and Jesus Christ (p) will come down from Heaven to Earth in 2022, in-sha Allah (if Allah is willing). All events we may witness before the official beginning of the End of Time  are NOT  part of the official End Times events.   2. Three Important Individuals In Islam, Muslims expect at least 3 important individuals to appear, before the Day of Judgment, in following order: (a) Al-Mahdi, (b) The Dajjal (Anti-Christ), (c) Jesus Christ (p). Two of them are good men: (a) Sunni Muslims' Mahdi (b) Jesus Christ (p) (the Messiah). The third man is the Dajjal (Anti-Christ) will certainly be an evil man. The Dajjal means the Deceiver. There might be two evil persons appearing in the End Times, one in 2013 and one in 2022. It is worth noting that the Shia are expecting Imam Mahdi who, as portrayed in Shia's books, seems to be an evil man whom the Shia expect will persecute Sunni Muslims, resurrect and crucify Prophet Mohammad's Companions, Abu Bakr and Omar as well as Aisha (Prophet Mohammad's صلى الله عليه وسلم wife). Shia's Imam Mahdi is not likely to appear, but rather the Dajjal (Anti-Christ) may claim to be Shia's Imam Mahdi. However, we may witness the rise of one or more evil Shia leaders who may claim to be paving the way for Shia's Mahdi. Click here to read various topics about the End of Time, from Islamic (Muslim) perspective, as well as from Christian and Jewish perspective.   3. What is the sequence of events? The following Hadiths present the sequence of events: Mu'az ibn Jabal narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Omran (Re-building)  of Jerusalem will be (lead to) Kharab (the pillaging and devastation) of Yathrib (Madina in Saudi Arabia). The pillaging of Yathrib will be (lead to) the outbreak of the Big Battle (with the Romans). The outbreak of the Big Battle will be (lead to) the conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul, New York, or European city). The conquest of Constantinople will be (lead to) the coming of Dajjal (Anti-Christ). Then, ... said: This is as real as you (Mu'az ibn Jabal) are here or you are sitting." (Abu Dawud) Please note that the word "Omran" has  the same numerical value as Banu Israel  (Children of Israel). So, "Omran of Jerusalem" means "When the Children of Israel capture Jerusalem".   Jaber bin Samra based on Nafi bin Otba reports that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: " ...You will march against (or attack) the Arabian Peninsula and Allah will open (conquer) it, then Persia and Allah will open (conquer) it. Then, you will march against (attack) the Romans' land and Allah will open  (or conquer) it. Then, you will march against (attack) the Dajjal (Anti-Christ) (or Dajjal's land), and Allah will open  (conquer) it." Then, Nafi said (to Jaber): "O' Jaber, we will not see the Dajjal emerge until the Romans' land has been conquered (by Allah for the Muslims)." (Sahih Muslim and Ibn Majah)     4.  Signs of the Day of Resurrection based on Sunni Sources   Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim list the following important Hadith about the Hour: A variation of this Hadith appears in Sahih Muslim listed the Hadith as follows: There are Minor & Major Signs that indicate Day of  Resurrection (Day of Judgement or Doomsday) is approaching: A. Minor Signs The minor signs generally speaking are expected to occur before the Major signs start. However, it is possible to classify as minor signs, those signs which are either not too significant or not classified as Major Signs. No single Hadith lists all the minor signs, but there are hundreds of minor signs mentioned in hundreds of Hadiths. These Hadiths do not usually mention that they are Minor Signs. On the other hand, there are Hadiths that list all of the Major Signs. So, we can classify as Minor Signs, those signs not listed among the Major signs. Most of the Minor Signs have been fulfilled. The remaining few Minor Signs which have not been fulfilled yet include: (1) Major Earthquakes, Famines, Asteroids, and Epidemic diseases. Some of these Epidemic diseases could be intentionally produced and spread by evil powers, as a form of biological weapons. (2) Euphrates River (which passes through Turkey, Syria, and Iraq) will uncover a mountain of gold (meaning something very valuable). This is in the process of being fulfilled, click here for details. (3) The return of the land of Arabs (Arabian Peninsula) to being green pastures and rivers, instead of its current condition as a desert. Based on Abu Huraira, Prophet Mohammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said: " The Hour (of Resurrection) will not come..... until the land of the Arabs (Arabian Peninsula) returns to being pastures ("paradises" according to Musnad Ahmad) and rivers." (Sahih Muslim, Musnad Ahmad). Saudi Arabia has already started to become green. Click here for more information this amazing development ! (4) Lake of Tiberias in Palestine (also known as Sea of Galilee) will dry up. This prophecy and sign is in the process of being fulfilled. The water in the Sea of Galilee is drying up.   Watch this video that shows Sea of Galilee is drying up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZgjIe83HIg   The Shia's Books mention an additional sign: The Construction of Two Bridges: The Shia  believe the first bridge could be the bridge that connects Saudi Arabia to Bahrain which was completed in 1986. The second bridge they expect it to be the proposed bridge that will connect Saudi Arabia to Egypt. So far, Egypt has rejected the construction of such a bridge under pressure from Israel and the U.S. On the other hand, construction of a bridge connecting Qatar to Bahrain is expected to start this year, in 2010 and to be completed within 4-5 years.   For details regarding the Minor Signs, click here   B. Major Signs In Islam, the major signs of the Day of Resurrection are mentioned in several Hadiths. The following Hadith is one of them (the signs in this Hadith do not necessarily have to occur in the same order mentioned in this Hadith): Huzaifa bin Usaid Al-Ghifari reported: Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم came to us all of a sudden as we were talking. He said: "What are you discussing?" We said: "We are talking about the Last Hour." Thereupon, he  صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "It will not come until you see ten signs before it, he made a mention of: the Smoke, the Dajjal (Anti-Christ), the Daabba, the Rising of the Sun from the West, the Descent of Jesus Son of Mary عليه السلام (from Heaven), the emergence of Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog & MaGog), and Khusuf  (Land Collapse) will occur in three places: one in the East, one in the West and one in Arabian Peninsula. At the end, a Fire would burn forth from Yemen (or from Aden according to Ahmad), which would drive people to the place of their final assembly (before they get resurrected by God)." (Sahih Muslim, Musnad Ahmad)   For details regarding the Major Signs, click here   5. Videos of Lectures about the End of Time To view these videos, click here   Very Important Announcement     Discovering Islam, in association with End Times Research Center, is pleased to inform you about a great book : The End Times : Based on Numerical Analysis of the Quran, Hadith, Arabic Words, and Historical Events     The latest research of End Times Research Center indicates that, in-sha-Allah (if Allah is willing): (a) The first phase of the End of Time will start (and the Imam Mahdi will appear) most likely in 2014. The probability for the beginning of the End Times is as follows: Year 2014            80 % Year 2015            19 % After Year 2015    1% (b) Jesus Christ (p) will come down from Heaven in 2022, but the World will not end in 2022. The book consists of more than 2800 pages, divided into 6 Volumes (Parts). Currently, the book is available in pdf format and can be downloaded 100% FREE of charge at : www.EndTimes2014.com www.DiscoveringIslam.org

numerical19.tripod.com —  The Numbers in Islam are more than what you see.   Over it are Nineteen. And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers, in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith, and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this ?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind.HQ 74:30,31 Since 14 September 2000 Last update : 22 February 2012 This website is not about Mystic Numerologies, Cabalas, Superstitions, Predictions and Witchcraftssince those things are prohibited in Islam. This website is pure about Mathematical Calculations and Simple forms of Mathematical Science relatedto the world of ISLAM. Noteworthy:1. I am not the follower of Rashad Khalifa, but I respect his discoveries.2. I am a Sunni and I believe both Al-Qur'an and the hadiths of the Prophet s.a.w.3. If you have critics, corrections, and suggestions, don't hesitate to contact me.4. Do you have any discoveries about Mathematical Miracles especially related to Islam? Please share them here.5. The Advertisements on this web are not in owner's control. They are belong to the HOST.6.I use Al-Qur'an Mushaf Uthmani for my research. Thanks.   Why 19? When told about the mathematical miracle of the Quran and how it is related to number 19 , many people ask : Why 19?! If it was 17 or 21, they would have asked the same question, WHY 21 ?  or  Why 17 ?. But of course there is more than one reason for that choice. Number 19 as we know by now is mentioned in the Quran in Sura 74 verse 30. God even told us the significance of this number in 74:31. The student of the scriptures will find enough evidence that the mathematical code, based on number 19, was used for the previous scripture as well. Since distortion changed the whole face of the old scripture we were left only with the Quran as the only preserved word of God. It is God's choice for this to happen. Even the universe at large bears this divine mark. The number 19 can be looked upon as the Almighty Creator's signature on everything He created. The number 19 possesses unique mathematical properties, for example: 1-It is a prime number , only divides by itself and one. 2-It encompasses the first numeral (1) and the last numeral (9), as if to proclaim God's attribute in 57:3 as the "Alpha and the Omega". 3-Its {numerals} look the same in all languages in the world. The numerals (1) and (9) look very much the same in , for example Arabic and English. 4-It possesses many peculiar mathematical properties. For example, 19 is the sum of the first powers of 9 and 10, and the difference between the second powers of 9 and 10. 5-Number 19 is the numerical value of the word "ONE" in all the scriptural languages, Aramaic, Hebrew, and Arabic. The number 19, therefore proclaims the First commandment in all the scriptures: that there is only ONE GOD. The word "ONE" "Wahid" in reference to God, in the Quran, is used 19 times. Is it a co-incidence? The number 19 itself has no power and has no holiness, and can lead you no where. It is the Miracle that is based on this number that has the significance. This significance is explained clearly by God Almighty Himself in 74:30-31. 74:30-31 states the following Over it are Nineteen. And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers, in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith, and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this ?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. Allah the Almighty controlled everything.   WAHID, History of Muhammad (saw) and 19 33 Seems to be one of the important number in Islam Uploaded 24 January 2011 The Hidden Mathematical Calculation inside surah Al-Kahf Al-Qur'an mentions Gregory and Hijri Calendar Uploaded 20 January 2011 114 PRIME NUMBERS The addition of 114 Prime Numbers will give you surprises Uploaded 06 December 2010 PRIME NUMBER NO 632 The year of the death and his age coded in Prime Number Uploaded 30 November 2010   Click the image to find more. tibbenabawi.org —     Tibb-e-Nabawi ~ Healing by ISLAM, both for the body & soul, for the doctor & patient, for the sick & healthy By the Star when it goes down, your Companion is neither astray nor being misled, and neither does he speak out of his own desire, that which he conveys to you is but a divine revelation with which he is being Inspired, something that a very Mighty One Has Imparted to him. (Surah Najm ~ Verses 1 to 5) All praise to Allah Who Created the human from soil, He is Allah Who also Made rocks from the soil which can crush the soil, He is Allah Who Created Iron which breaks the rocks, He is Allah Who Created Fire which melts the Iron, He is Allah Who Created WATER which extinguishes the fire, He is Allah Who Created AIR which can carry tons of water as clouds, & He is Allah Who Descends the rain & Gives life to dead soil. Tibb-e-Nabawi is the divine medicine that was Gifted by Allah to Prophet Muhammad Salallaho Alaihe Wasallam by WAHEE (revelation). It is the true healing for both the doctor & patient, for the sick & healthy. Purpose of this website is to emphasize that Tibb-e-Nabawi is a complete code of medicine, both for the health of heart (soul) & physical fitness. We ignored it for the last few hundreds of years and as a result, no one in this world considers Tibb-e-Nabwi even as an alternative medicine, you will find followers of Acupuncture, Unani, Ayurveda, Herbalism, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, etc. but very few adopt Tibb-e-Nabawi as their first priority of cure & healing. There are many books written on Tibb-e-Nabawi, but Ibn Al Qayyam Al Jauziah's book is the most comprehensive, Ibn Al Qayyam was a miracle of Allah’s creations, he lived for 60 years, but had an experience of 1,000 years, precision and perfection of his knowledge on ISLAM & Medicine is reflected in his book on Tibb-e-Nabawi, & we have understood that he has presented the “Diagnosis & Prescription” with curing the heart & soul primarily; prior to treat the physical ailment. He wrote: "There is a tremendous connection between the soul and what the body suffers due to physical diseases. Only the most ignorant people will deny the effects of the soul on body and on human nature as a whole. Allah Gives the soul certain powers over the body when someone is attacked by diseases. In addition, the soul has certain effects on the body when it experiences the ailments that are caused by septic substances, especially when blood, semen or black bile is irritated. Evil forces take control of the body when it experiences such emotions and ailments, unless the person repels it with an even stronger power, such as remembering Allah, supplicating to Him, invoking and pleading to Him, giving in charity (Sadaqah) and reciting the Quran. In this case, angels will descend and will defeat and neutralize the evil effects of the devilish souls (evil forces). We have successfully tried this method many times, that which only Allah is Able to count, and we witnessed the wonderful effects of such positive forces (good souls) in strengthening one’s resolve and ridding him of bad elements. This method almost never fails". Disease was Created by Allah & CURE is also Provided by Allah, so why to go through the painful cycle of DMC (Disease ~ Medicine ~ CURE) ? By disease, Allah Provides an opportunity to reduce the burden of sins, furthermore, He Needs from a Muslim to follow the true principals of SHIFA, which help a Muslim to develop & strengthen belief on his LORD, the DMC cycle creates a strong connection between a Muslim & Rahman, between a slave & his Master, between a Mo’min (Allah’s name) and a Mo’min (A Muslim). Following are the true principals of SHIFA / Healing which cure both the heart (soul) & body : 1. Healing by Belief (Yaqeen) that Allah Has Sent the disease & Allah is the HEALER, & if the healing is delayed, it is by Allah’s Wisdom & Hikmah 2. Healing by Aa’maal-e-Saalehaat, Salaat, Sadaqah, Fast, Quran, Zikr, Duaas & Ruqya, Husn-e-Khulq, abstaining from sins, Istighfaar, etc. 3. Healing by the foods of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam 4. Healing by the herbs of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam 5. Healing by HIJAMAH; which is Sunnah & the best kind of treatment in this world When all of the above tools are combined together, it is very difficult for any sickness / ailment to withstand the crushing power of Tibb-e-Nabawi. Return to Page Top We have classified the contents of Tibb-e-Nabawi in these 5 categories, & many articles on this website are copied from Ibn Al Qayyam's book "Zaad al Ma'aad". The most beautiful words in his book are as under : وليس طِبُّه صلى الله عليه وسلم كطِبِّ الأطباء، فإن طبَّ النبىّ صلى الله عليه وسلم متيقَّنٌ قطعىٌ إلهىٌ، صادرٌ عن الوحى، ومِشْكاةِ النبوة، وكمالِ العقل‏.‏ وطبُّ غيرِه أكثرُه حَدْسٌ وظنون، وتجارِب، ولا يُنْكَرُ عدمُ انتفاع كثير من المرضى بطبِّ النبوة، فإنه إنما ينتفعُ به مَن تلقَّاه بالقبول، واعتقاد الشفاء به، وكمال التلقى له بالإيمان والإذعان، فهذا القرآنُ الذي هو شفاء لما في الصدور إن لم يُتلقَّ هذا التلقى لم يحصل به شفاءُ الصُّدور مِن أدوائها، بل لا يزيدُ المنافقين إلا رجساً إلى رجسهم، ومرضاً إلى مرضهم، وأين يقعُ طبُّ الأبدان منه، فطِب النبوةِ لا يُناسب إلا الأبدانَ الطيبة، كما أنَّ شِفاء القرآن لا يُناسب إلا الأرواح الطيبة والقلوب الحية، فإعراضُ الناس عن طِبِّ النبوة كإعراضهم عن الاستشفاء بالقرآن الذي هو الشفاء النافع، وليس ذلك لقصور في الدواء، ولكن لخُبثِ الطبيعة، وفساد المحل، وعدمِ قبوله‏.‏‏.‏ والله الموفق‏.‏ Prophetic medicine is not similar to that offered by doctors and physicians. Prophetic medicine is indeed the effective treatment and cure provided by the revelation and the guidance of the Prophet Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam; that is coupled with a sound and perfect mind. In comparison, the majority of remedies prescribed by others are built on hypothesis, observation and experimentation. It is a fact that many people do not benefit from Prophetic medicine because it will help only those who acknowledge and have faith in it. Thus, they believe that it will help them and they then submit to it. If Qur’an, which is a cure for whatever the heart conceals, is not acknowledged and accepted with faith, it will not provide a cure for the heart. In fact, Quran will only add more evil and disease to the hearts of the hypocrites. Prophetic medicine is only suitable for good and pure bodies, just as Quran is only suitable for righteous souls and feeling hearts. Therefore, when the people ignore Prophetic medicine, it is like ignoring the help with the guidance of Quran, which is the most effective medicine. Again, when the medicine (Quran and the Prophetic medicine) do not work, it is due to the negativity in the body and soul that are not suitable for accepting the medicine, not because the medicine does not work. All success comes from ALLAH. The relationship of (scientific) medicine to the Prophetic medicine is similar to scientific thought in comparison to divine revelations (to the Prophets). Indeed there are scientific phenomena and medical therapies to which even the best scientist and doctors have no real answers. Even to this day despite the advances made by science and technology, many mysteries remain. The results and comfort of spiritual therapies comes only from faith and trust in ALLAH. They come through charity, prayer, repentance and seeking ALLAH’s forgiveness. They are aided by doing good deeds, helping the helpless and relieving the afflicted. The causes for these cures are varied and defy logical analysis. And the resultant cures cannot be explained by scientific experimentation and analysis. All this is in accordance of the law of ALLAH and nothing outside it. When a person’s heart becomes attuned to the Lord of the world, and trusting of the Creator of all ailments and their remedies, medicines which would otherwise be ineffective in an individual who is unbelieving and indifferent of heart become effective,. It has been experienced that when a man’s belief is strong, his body and soul are strengthened and they co-operate in repelling disease and overcoming it. This cannot be denied except by the most ignorant of people.   PLEASE CLICL ON LINK: http://www.tibbenabawi.org/

Those are the ones who shall have nothing in the Afterlife except the Fire, All that they do here is worthless and all their acts are without gain (11:15-16) and Let whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord act righteously, and make anyone share in the worship due to his Lord (18:111) Muslim relates on the authority of Abu Hurayra (r) that the Prophet (s) said, “God – Great and Glorious is He! says: I am in less need of partners than anyone. Therfore when a man does anything for My sake, and for the sake of another as well, then I am quit of him, and he is empartnered to what he empartnered to Me’.” Bukhari and Muslim relate on the authority of Jundud (r) that the Prophet (s) said, “ Whoever acts to be heard and seen, God will cause his falsity to be heard and seen.” Al-Rabi’ ibn Khaytham said, “Every act which is not performed for the sake of God comes to nothing “ Sufyan said in connection with the verse “ Everything shall perish exept His Face (28:28) ” that it can be interpreted as meaning, “ Everthing that is not done for His sake shall perish.” 1 Excerpt from the book, “The seventy seven branches of Faith “by Imam al-Bayhaqi abridged by Imam al-Qazwini and translated by Abdal-Hakim Murad بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful TRANSLATOR’ PREFACE Excerpt from the book WORSHIP (FROM AL-NASAIH AL-DINNYYAH by IMAM ABDULLAH IBN ALAWI AL-HADDAD), Translated by Sheikh Abdul Aziz Ahmed, published by Kitaba-Islamic Texts for the Blind, Glasgow UK WORSHIP IBADAH, WORSHIP, is the purpose of our existence. Allah says, ‘I have not created man or jinn except to worship Me[1]’.To worship Him means to recognise Him and then to submit to Him. The angel Jibril was sent to teach us that religion consists of three interconnected elements, iman (belief), islam (submitting to Him through worship) and ihsan (excellence in one’s relationship with Allah and creation). Iman is the process of recognising Him and being aware of Him. One articulates this through the declaration known as the shahadah, where one declares la ilaha illAllah wa Muhammadu rasulallah, there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. A sincere declaration of faith should lead to loving awe. This is called Taqwa. It is defined as, ‘fulfilling the commandments of Allah and avoiding His prohibitions both inwardly and outwardly while feeling adoration and reverence for Allah as well as awe, fear and dread.’ This had been dealt with in the first book in this series. The book of Worship deals with the second element of the religion and provides a more detailed explanation of obedience. The Prophet, upon him be peace, described the foundation of worship: ‘Islam has been built on five pillars: Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishment of the ritual prayer, the giving of Zakat, fasting in Ramadan and performing of Pilgrimage.’[2] The word Salah, ritual prayer, is derived from the root ‘wa-sa-la’ which means to ‘to connect’. It is said that the ‘salah’ is the ‘sila’ (connection) between the servant and his Lord. Imam al-Haddad, echoing the Prophet’s word, describes it as ‘the pillar of the religion’.[3] He says it is ‘to the religion what the head is to the body’. Like all other forms of worship, it is more than a mere ritual. He says in the Discourse on Salah: The prayer has an outer form and an inner reality. The prayer is incomplete and imperfect without the establishment of both. The outer form includes the standing (al-qiyam), the recitation (alqira’ah), the bowing (al-ruku’), prostration (al-sajda) and the like. The inner realities include presence (al-khushu’) concentration of the heart (hudur al-qulb), complete sincerity, contemplation of the meanings of the recitation and the glorification (tasbih) and other elements from the inner dimensions of the prayer. Zakat is sometimes thought of as charity or alms or tax. The word has two meanings. Firstly, it means to grow and secondly, to purify. In a legal sense, it means to give from one’s specific possessions under specific circumstances. The specific possessions include gold and silver, money, livestock, trade goods, treasure and crops. The specific circumstances are mentioned briefly in this book and are detailed in the books of jurisprudence. The giving of Zakat ‘purifies’ one’s wealth and as a result, it ‘grows’ in blessing. However, the real purification and growth is in the inner being of the one who gives the Zakat. His lower self is purified of the love of this temporal world. The Quran uses the word Zakat in this context when He, the Exalted’ says: ‘By the soul and the proportion and order given to it, and its enlightenment as to wrong and its right. Truly he succeeds who purifies it.[4] Saum, is the Arabic word for fasting. It means to ‘to hold back’ or ‘restrain’. The holding back and restraining of the lower self is an ongoing process but is aided by the compulsory fast of Ramadan. Hajj or pilgrimage is the directing of one’s self towards Allah through physically moving towards and around His Sacred House in Makkah and performing the rites associated with the visit. These rites were established by the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), and re-established by Muhammad, upon him be peace. In doing so, he completed Allah’s message concerning worship. It was during the pilgrimage that Allah said: ‘This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.’[5] We ask Allah to make us of those who show gratitude for this favour through the establishment of true worship in all aspects. Amin. IMAM AL-HADDAD Abdullah bin Alawi al-Haddad was a descendent of the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, whose forefathers settled in the Hadramaut valley of Southern Arabia. Those forefathers established a strong tradition of knowledge and calling people to God through their words, actions and writings. They stood for orthodox Islam of the people of the Quran and Sunnah with a strong emphasis on spiritual growth and good character. Their teachings were influenced by scholars such as al-Ghazali and Abu Talib al-Makki.[6] Imam al-Haddad was born to two of the most upright and saintly people of that time. His parents ‘Alawi bin Muhammad al-Haddad and Salma bint ‘Umar al-Munaffar were known for their spirituality as well as their knowledge of the legal system and tradition of Islam. The noble Salma gave birth to our Imam Abdullah on 5th Safar 1044H, 1st August 1634 CE. Aged three, Imam al-Haddad became ill and lost his sight. Although there were fears that becoming blind might hamper his spiritual and intellectual growth it seemed to have had the opposite effect. His teachers noted an increase in his eagerness and ability to memorise the Quran and other texts and an increase in his devotional worship. His childhood friend, Abdullah Bal-Faqih used to say, ‘although our performance of worship was together, Abdullah would always surpass us.’ Even as a young child he used to perform between a hundred and two hundred additional prayer cycles every morning. By the age of fifteen, he had studied under almost all the scholars of the area and was eagerly memorising major texts including the Shafi’ law manual al-Irshad. It is reported that he studied under 140 different scholars. After mastering the outer Islamic sciences, his interest was initially not on teaching but on retreat from the world. At seventeen years old, he took to long periods of seclusion in the mosque of al-Hajira in Tarim. For a while he refused pleas to teach, but eventually succumbed to the request of a sincere student from the Ba Fadl clan and a relative named Hasan al-Jifri. Once he began teaching, his thirst for knowledge increased once again and he dedicated himself to teaching, studying and calling people to God. He was kind and loving and cared a great deal for his community. He was particularly concerned about the poor, widows and orphans. On the rare occasions when he became annoyed with his own servant, he would give him a present to abate his own anger prompting his servant to remark, ‘I wish he would be annoyed with me more often.’ In 1079H, 1668 CE, the Imam performed the pilgrimage to Makkah and visited his noble grandfather, upon whom be peace, in Madina. He met many of the world’s leading scholars and returned intellectually and spiritually invigorated by the experience. After his return, he settled in al-Hawi on the outskirts of Tarim where he established a mosque and his new home. This became the centre of his teaching activities and calling to God. He wrote many books and guided people through direct spiritual training, teaching and litanies which are read today all over the world. He would go out to visit remote villages, teach people at home and write to the rulers and governors. It was because of his tremendous effort in calling to God that he earned the title ‘ Qutb al-da’wah wal-Irdhad’, the Pole of Calling and Guidance. He continued teaching and calling to God until his death on 7th Dhul Qa’da 1132, 12 August 1720 CE. May Allah be pleased with him and benefit us by him. [1] Al-Dhariyat 51:56 [2] Related by al-Bukhari in the Book of Faith (hadith no 8) and Muslim in the Book of Faith (hadith no 8) [3] The Imam’s statement reflects the hadith, ‘prayer is the pillar (imad) of the religion as related on the authority of ‘Aisha by al-Bayhaqi in his Branches of Faith. [4] Al-Shams 91: 7-9 [5] Al-Maida 5:3 [6] Abu Talib al-Makki was an ascetic scholar born in Iraq where he died in 386H/996 CE. His famous book was Qut al-Qulub, Provision of the Hearts, describes the spiritual dimension of worship. Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali gathered knowledge of the outer and inner sciences of Islam in his various books but most importantly in a collection entitled Ihya ‘Ulum al-Din, Revival of Islamic Sciences. He died near Tabiran in modern day Iran in 505H/1111CE.   new additions.. 1. Preface to Book of Al-Nasaih Al-Dinniyah by Imam Abdullah Ibn Alawi Al-Haddad (frontpage) 2.
